Context
SteirerLAN is a wireless internet & network solutions provider headquartered in Strass, Austria. They offer high-security home & business WLAN, internet connectivity, wireless PTP data transfer, voice over IP telephony, & handful of other networking services. At the moment, SteirerLAN operates in over 28 municipalities.
Problem
Quality solutions are key to maintaining a satisfied clientele & further business growth. That is why SteirerLAN were looking into developing & upgrading their current wireless infrastructure. They needed robust & high-performance equipment to operate as backhaul links.
Solution
SteirerLAN became one of the first companies to participate in the LigoPTP RapidFire performance tests. They set up a LigoPTP RapidFire 5-23 link in Leibnitz, extending 10.6km from a mountainside in Kaindorf to a rural area in Strass in der Steiermark.
Results
The link was set to operate over 40/80MHz channels at 5,340MHz. UDP Simplex throughput peaked at 270 & 450Mbps over the abovementioned channels respectively. Signal levels were very good—at –57/–60.
