Scenario

A 1.01km LigoDLB 6-15ac PTP link was set up in a remote open field in Russia. The site allowed testing in a low-noise setting, this way ensuring high result accuracy. The link used 2× LigoDLB 6-15ac wireless devices. One was mounted on an antenna ladder & the other was installed on a private house.

Product

LigoDLB 6-15ac is a wireless 6GHz bridge made for outdoor video surveillance & last-mile scenarios. It has a 750MHz QCA 9563 CPU, a QCA 9882 radio, an integrated 15dBi antenna & offers up to 256-QAM modulations, QoS functionality, & the LigoWave iPoll 3 proprietary protocol.

Results

Tests over the 20MHz channel width gave optimal results with 120 & 125Mbps using TCP & UDP respectively. Peak performance was reached over an 80MHz channel (UDP) width with 500 Mbps & 80.000+ packets per second. Link signals were at –66~–59dBm. The link used the iPoll 3 protocol.

Summary

Test results show that the 6GHz band is an ideal alternative to the often overcrowded 5GHz. Not only does it provide the needed conditions for good signal levels and great performance, but it also allows networks to operate at lower Tx parameters, this way reducing self-interference among sites. Besides that, low noise levels also mean longer potential link distance.
