NetoIP, one of LigoWave’s long-time partners & a wireless telecommunications services provider based in Ancona, Italy, did performance tests on the LigoPTP RapidFire 5-N. They specialize in wireless rural connectivity, VoIP telephony, multimedia, & security networking, among other things.
Problem
One of NetoIP’s major business focuses is VoIP. In turn, they are always on the lookout for wireless equipment that would lower network latency, increase performance, and stabilize jitter, which are the key aspects that influence the quality of VoIP services.
Solution
NetoIP took part in the LigoPTP RapidFire 5-N bridge beta testing program. They set up a 6.5km link with external dual-polarized directional dish antennas in the Serra di San Quirico Commune. The equipment operated over an 80MHz channel with a –55dBm signal level.
Results
The link was robust & provided top performance under high interference. Throughput peaked at 583Mbps, while the max PPS rate reached 268,000 using 64-byte packets. NetoIP was extremely satisfied with the RapidFire’s capacity to handle VoIP & other real-time traffic as well as it did.
