77 km over the water point-to-point link was installed using LigoPTP 5-N PRO devices with external dish antennas. The link connected Legaspi city with the municipality of Aroroy, Masbate in Philippines and the installation was done by a system integrator Double Square Networks Inc. Capacity of the backhaul link was expected to be 15 Mbps full – duplex, since the primary Internet bandwidth was only 10 Mbps.
However, the actual results after the deployment and initial configuration reached 22 Mbps full duplex, which was 50% more than the required capacity.
Finally, system integrator was scheduled to improve results and attain the capacity of at least 35 Mbps full – duplex. However the final results were outstanding and reached 76 Mbps half – duplex.
